Ok place to stay, close to Fort Rucker

Posted by chattysongbird on 5/4/2008

This is my first time writing a review on this site. I stayed at Daleville Inn not knowing what to expect. We got a renovated room w/ a king size bed. It had the regular stuff, microwave, fridge, tv. No clock, no wi-fi, no continental breakfast, so beware. For the most part it was just a regular room, no frills. Even though it was suppose to be the renovated room it still felt kinda old b/c of the bathroom and the decor. The tub was stained and the toilet was one that seemed like it was from a public restroom, w/ no cover and a metal handlebar like you would see. The theme of the room was leopard, leopard prints everywhere, which made it look cheesy not upgraded. For the most part the cleaning service was good, the room looked clean, the front desk was friendly, there is a pool and I saw people swimming in it so maybe it was enjoyable. Parking is right in front of the door. For what I paid which was cheap it was worth it. It's right outside the Daleville Gate from Fort Rucker, so it's really close to the post. If all you need is a bed to sleep and nothing else, this place wouldn't be so bad, just don't expect anything else.

Okay if you have pets

This if the first time I've ever reviewed anything on Citysearch but I wanted to make sure others coming to the area knew about this place. If you're military and have pets then it's great but be warned that the units are dirty, not well kept, and just because you keep your dog on a leash doesn't mean everyone else here does. We stayed in the large suite which is basically a one bedroom apartment. There's a full kitchen, living room, and separate bedroom. They supply pots and pans and basic dishes. The floors were filthy when we moved in and it didn't look like the carpets had been vacuumed since the last people left. The walls were cracked, dirty and badly in need of paint. They advertise free wireless but the service goes down for days at a time, making it really inconvenient when you need to get online. There are signs on the property that ask you to keep your dogs on a leash and pick up after them but lots of people let their dogs run around without a leash and you have to watch your step because not everyone picks up after their dog. They have a pool but the water is really dirty and I wouldn't swim in it. The people who work in the office are very helpful and this really is one of the few extended stay places around post that allow pets so if you want to keep your animals with you during your short stay you don't have a lot of choices. If you're going to be here for more than a couple of months I really recommend finding a better, cleaner, place to stay though.
